Good to know

NOTE: Dogs are generally welcome at The Big Tiny House. We love dogs and realize it's a PITA to find dog-friendly AirBnB rentals. Our cleaning company assesses a fee of $45 per pup if we know in advance; $100 if we don't know in advance :( Now to the good stuff: SP Wintergreen Resort gate 3 Flying Fox Vineyards 1.6 Hill Top Winery 2.1 Three Notch'd Brewery 3.6 Silverback Distillery 3.7 Brewing Tree Brewery 3.9 Bold Rock Cider 5 Devil’s Backbone Brewery 6.2 Blue Toad Cider 6.2 Cardinal Point Winery 6.2 Blue Mountain Brewery 7.1 Valley Road Vineyard 7.6 Veritas Vineyard 7.9 Afton Mountain Vineyard 8.1 Pollack Vineyards 9.9 VA Distillery Co. 11 Tucked away less than a mile from VA's Brew Ridge Trail, The Big Tiny House is a brand-new, never been lived in, self-contained luxury tiny home hand built by the only RIVA-certified tiny home builder in the nation. Although less than 400sqft, the plethora of windows and natural light creates a sense of sleeping outdoors. An immaculate, brand-new luxury tiny home hand-crafted by premier builder Escape Homes. While staying at The Big Tiny House, you'll be surprised at the precise attention to detail in the design and the sheer amount of amenities packed into this cool little spot. Enjoy!

Other Details to Note

Although separate, The Big Tiny House shares a property with the well-known AirBnB property Boogie Nights Manor as well as fellow listing Rusty's Retreat. Parking and access points are separate for the listings, but it's possible that sounds may travel between the respective outdoors spaces :) The house also has a great firepit that looks straight out of an episode of The Flintstones. As we can't guarantee the availability of large deliveries of firewood locally, we recommend you pick up a couple bundles at your local hardware or grocery store. The IGA grocery store (10 mins away in Nellysford) generally has bundles that sell in the $6-7 range.

When you enter the driveway and pass the large pine trees, feel free to park in the grassy area off to the left . On the wall to the left of the garage door is a lockbox with a key, as well as a light switch to illuminate the path to The Big Tiny House (and also to the adjacent Rusty's Retreat). Follow the path to your left between the garage and the large white propane tank (looks like a submarine). Walk approximately 20ft and you'll see a large pine tree with a sign for The Big Tiny House. Open the wooden gate to your right and you'll see the tiny house ahead :) You'll have full use of the tiny home as well as the outdoor space that surrounds it.

We had a great weekend away in the Big Tiny Home! The kitchen was well stocked, and the space was very comfortable. We loved sitting in front of the big window eating breakfast, sipping on wine or playing cards while watching the wildlife (the fawns were especially entertaining).

What a wonderful space!! The space was absolutely perfect. Love the large windows and fire pit. The space was super comfortable. I would recommend to any traveler looking for cozy and comfortable spot for decompressing while enjoying the conscience of Virginias breweries and vineyards. Bonus points for being dog friendly!

LOVED this stay!! It’s even cuter in person. My husband and I spontaneously booked this Airbnb on a roadtrip and this is a place I will always remember. The “tiny house” is actually quite spacious too on the inside. Loved all of the windows too, had lots of natural light and it was cool to look out of while inside. Thanks Jeremy! We will definitely be back!

This was such a great weekend getaway for me and my daughter. The big tiny house was the perfect size for two with a doggo. We had some issues with the power going out due to a crazy thunderstorm that came rolling in the first night and Jeremy was very responsive and helpful, even though it was the middle of the night. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing vacation.

The Big Tiny home was a perfect escape and recovery after a few days hiking and camping in Shenandoah! Jeremy was super helpful and responsive during my stay. It was easy to get back into the park for another day hike as well to the abundance of brewery, winery, cideries, and distilleries nearby. Enjoyed laying around and reading by the big windows while the rain came...as well as sitting out in the Adirondack chairs when the weather cleared. Definitely plan to come back for another stay in the future!

Looks exactly like the photos, smack in the middle of breweries and vineyards. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful views all around. Plenty of room, clean and the best was comfy! Would book here again and suggest to friends and family. Don’t let the tiny home fool you could easily hold 4 people with room to spare.

My wife and I enjoyed this lovely, cozy tiny home in celebration of our first year anniversary. Days later and she remains excited about returning and exploring more tiny homes and super thankful for our experience. Jeremy is a fantastic host! He’s very responsive, proactively checked to ensure we were enjoying our stay and provided clear instructions every step of the way! You will not regret your stay and likely will wish you’d booked more days!

Such a perfect cozy stay! Close to Nelson 151 craft beverage trail and the Rockfish Gap entrance to Shenandoah/Skyline Dr. There was so much to do we honestly wished we stayed longer. We will be back!

Location

Afton/Nellysford is still fairly rural, so you’ll need a vehicle in most cases if you’re visiting breweries and vineyards. UBER can be a bit hit or miss, but there are several taxi/tour that service the local area should you choose to “sample” all the local flavors :). The Nelson County government website maintains a listing of local businesses to include taxi and tour providers. That listing can be found on the county's website.
